Newsletter 8 - August 2007

The gallery for our visit on the 14th July to the Potager Garden, Constantine is now ready for viewing.

Spaces are still available for 11th August at Charlestown Harbour. 11th August we will be visiting Charlestown harbour. This is the base for Square Sail Ships, and the Earl of Pemborke will arrive back from a voyage around 6.30 - 8pm. As it would be a shame to miss this opportunity our times will be different. We shall meet from 2.30pm till 8pm, and as there are pubs offering bar snacks it will be possible to have a meal there, otherwise bring your own food. The harbour should be fairly quiet as it is "change over day".

Unfortunately due to family commitments we are unable to organise a painting day in September.

Advanced notice - October 14th we have been invited to paint at Lostwithiel Golf and Country Club. The club is on the outskirts of Lostwithiel by the River Fowey, with some very picturesque views. Nearby is Restormel Castle.

Bob will be coming along to play golf, so if any partners would like to join him please let us know.

Important Information - please read

Paint Away Days has been arranging painting days around Cornwall for nearly 18 months. It has been supported and thanks to all of you have have been out painting with us. We will continue to arrange painting days, but Paint Away Days will no longer be a business after October. We shall still be a group of artists going out to various places to paint, and with the considerations Sarah had when first developing the idea, that there is safety in numbers and opportunities to visit places not normally avialable to an individual. It will still be necessary to book a place, but instead of paying a set amount for each day the cost will be variable, and almost definitely at less than the current charge.

As we have seen this summer the weather can not be guaranteed to be dry so a room will be hired, and this cost will be shared equally by the participants on the day. Paint Away Days is still happy to provide tea and coffee, probaby at a charge of £1 per day, any profits from this will be used to run the website.

We are interested in your views on this, so please contact us and let us know.
